That’s the idea behind Kahimuot Brew: bringing an elevated coffee experience within reach of everyday people.

Located at Jaro Small Market along Simeon Ledesma Street in Jaro, Iloilo City, Philippines, Kahimuot Brew brings together the appeal of thoughtfully prepared coffee and the familiar rhythm of everyday Filipino life. We’re building a coffee brand for people who appreciate a good drink without feeling that great coffee has to be intimidating, exclusive, or reserved for expensive café experiences.

Why did Dana and Jay-P start Kahimuot Brew? This is our story.

Two People, One Shared Journey

Kahimuot Brew is built by life partners Dana V. Gimarangan and Jay-P Maramba, whose relationship spans 18 years.

Our journey as partners has included entrepreneurship, creative problem-solving, difficult decisions, and the experience of starting over when circumstances change.

We explored delivery only business model, the buy now pay on salary model for frozen foods in offices, and joining local BPO bazaars for a previous pastry business.

Those earlier ventures taught us valuable lessons. We had explored several business models, but we wanted to build something of our own—a product and brand that we could develop over time

We bring our own strengths, perspectives, and ideas to the journey. What connects them is a shared commitment to creating something meaningful and giving it room to grow.

Kahimuot Brew is one expression of that commitment.

Why We Started Kahimuot Brew?

We believe an upscale coffee experience should feel inviting, not intimidating. Our concept is built around bringing signature coffee and freshly brewed drinks into the routines of ordinary customers.

Great coffee should not feel like a choice between convenience and quality, or between an affordable daily drink and a premium café experience. We believe there is room for something more accessible: thoughtfully prepared coffee that people can enjoy as part of their regular routine.

Why Jaro, Iloilo City?

We chose a setting connected to the everyday movement of Iloilo.

Our location at Jaro Small Market, along Simeon Ledesma Street in Barangay Simon Ledesma, places Kahimuot Brew within a familiar part of local life. Markets are places where people shop, work, meet, pass through, and attend to the practical things that keep their days moving.

We like the idea of being part of that rhythm.

You do not always need to plan a café visit or travel somewhere special to enjoy a good coffee. Sometimes, the best coffee stop is the one that fits naturally into your day.

Dana V. Gimarangan — Co-Founder

Dana combines creative ideas with an interest in how businesses work: how customers discover a brand, what makes an offer appealing, and how a business can create an experience people remember.

For Dana, building a brand means looking beyond today’s sale. It means developing a clear identity, understanding the customer, and creating a foundation that can support future growth.

Jay-P Maramba — Co-Founder

Jay-P is a coffee enthusiast barista who brings a practical, operations-focused approach to Kahimuot Brew. He helps shape the workflows, inventory planning and service standards behind the customer experience

Their shared journey has given them experience navigating the responsibilities, decisions, and changing circumstances that come with building businesses together. Kahimuot Brew continues that entrepreneurial journey through their shared interest in creating a coffee brand with room to grow.

What Does “Kahimuot” Mean to Us?

The name Kahimuot evokes a sense of delight, pleasure, and enjoyment. It reflects the feeling we want people to associate with our brand: the simple satisfaction of finding something you enjoy and making it part of your day.

For us, that feeling does not have to be grand or complicated.
