Two People, One Shared Journey

Kahimuot Brew is built by life partners Dana V. Gimarangan and Jay-P Maramba, whose relationship spans 18 years.

Long before a cup of Kahimuot Brew reaches a customer, there is a story of two people choosing to build something together.

Our journey as partners has included entrepreneurship, creative problem-solving, difficult decisions, and the experience of starting over when circumstances change. We have explored food businesses, learned from the realities of running ventures, and discovered that building something of your own takes more than a good idea. It takes persistence, adaptability, and the willingness to keep finding a way forward.

Those experiences shape how we approach Kahimuot Brew.

We see a business as more than a product on a counter. It is something built through countless decisions: what to offer, how to serve people, how to make the experience worthwhile, and how to create a brand that customers will want to return to.

We bring our own strengths, perspectives, and ideas to the journey. What connects them is a shared commitment to creating something meaningful and giving it room to grow.

Why We Started Kahimuot Brew

We wanted to bring a more elevated coffee experience into the everyday lives of people in Iloilo.

The coffee world can sometimes make great coffee feel like a choice between convenience and quality, or between an affordable daily drink and a premium café experience. We believe there is room for something more accessible: thoughtfully prepared coffee that people can enjoy as part of their regular routine.

That is why our concept brings together upscale coffee and the practical needs of everyday customers.

We chose a setting connected to the everyday movement of Iloilo.

Our location at Jaro Small Market, along Simeon Ledesma Street in Barangay Simon Ledesma, places Kahimuot Brew within a familiar part of local life. Markets are places where people shop, work, meet, pass through, and attend to the practical things that keep their days moving.

We like the idea of being part of that rhythm.

You do not always need to plan a café visit or travel somewhere special to enjoy a good coffee. Sometimes, the best coffee stop is the one that fits naturally into your day.

We are building Kahimuot Brew in Iloilo City, with the ambition to grow beyond a single location over time. Our long-term vision is to develop a recognizable, repeatable coffee brand that can reach more customers and communities while holding on to the idea that started it all.

Meet the People Behind the Brew

Dana V. Gimarangan — Co-Founder

Dana brings a background in pattern thinking, risk analysis & management, startup ecosystem experience, field sales, human resources manager, digital marketing, SEO, storytelling, and business development to Kahimuot Brew.

Her approach combines creative ideas with an interest in how businesses work: how customers discover a brand, what makes an offer appealing, and how a business can create an experience people remember. Recently she won Speech Evaluations Competition Toastmasters International District 75, Division D, and served as judge in a round 2 public speaking contest of MFI Finance CardBank group; and Physics Pitching contest in Philippine Science Highschool Region 6 Physics week Regionals. All of the 3 were in 2024.

For Dana, building a brand means looking beyond today’s sale. It means developing a clear identity, understanding the customer, and creating a foundation that can support future growth.

At Kahimuot Brew, that perspective helps shape the story we tell, the experience we want to create, and the possibilities we see for the business.

Jay-P Maramba — Co-Founder

Jay-P is Dana’s life partner of 18 years and fellow entrepreneur. He brings systems thinking, exemplary organizational and workflow creation skills, inventory and logistical forecasting, and grounded steadfast determination of a champion operations lead.

Jay-P is a licensed and registered nurse by profession. But he shined with 17 years corporate experience in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry and Iloilo call centers like Transcom, Callbox and Teletech. For more than a decade, he is trusted by Transcom to handle commercial accounts and communications of their Australian client; where he is in charge of Business To Business (B2B) and Business To Consumer (B2C) client success management with top tier customer service skills.

Their shared journey has given them experience navigating the responsibilities, decisions, and changing circumstances that come with building businesses together. Kahimuot Brew continues that entrepreneurial journey through their shared interest in creating a coffee brand with room to grow.

Together, Dana and Jay-P are working to make Kahimuot Brew a recognizable name in everyday coffee, starting in Iloilo City.

What Does “Kahimuot” Mean to Us?

The name Kahimuot evokes a sense of delight, pleasure, and enjoyment. It reflects the feeling we want people to associate with our brand: the simple satisfaction of finding something you enjoy and making it part of your day.

For us, that feeling does not have to be grand or complicated.

It might be the first sip of your morning coffee, a signature drink you have been craving, or the comfort of returning to something familiar.

Our long-term vision is to grow the brand into a recognizable coffee business with the potential to serve more communities through additional locations and, where the business model supports it, future franchise opportunities.
